Collaborating on Responsible Tech and Equity

Technology has the power to transform lives and communities, but how do we ensure it’s applied equitably and in a way that does not recreate inequities we see in real life? The Social Tech Collaborative is a group of nonprofit, social impact organizations working to transform the way technology powers social services. We came together early this year to leverage our tech-forward organizations’ perspectives, approaches, and expertise to address structural inequities and barriers in social service delivery. During this session, we’ll present the values that drive our collaboration and how we are applying them to develop principles for responsible tech that can help evaluate new technologies to ensure it puts communities first, provides equitable access, and evolves to meet the needs of communities.
