Beyond Diversity: Advocating for Justice and Equity

In 2019, following a series of disempowering experiences navigating a predominantly white creative industries and technology sector, Rani Pramesti was starting to lose hope. That’s when she decided to create CreativesofColour.com. Collaborating with a team of creatives across Melbourne (Australia) and Jakarta, Indonesia, the platform features curated conversations with people of color in the creative and technology sectors. She interviewed 5 women of color across Australia and the United States to uncover their survival strategies in navigating structural barriers such as racism, sexism, colonialism, ableism and many more. Since then, Rani P Collaborations conducted 100+ customer validation interviews with people of color in the creative and technology industries to find out the problems we face, but also the possibilities of what a sector founded on justice and equity could look like.
